117 Women, 331 Goals: WAM’s FY26 Impact
Growth at WAM is not measured only by how many women we support. It can also be seen in the goals women set, the steps they take, the relationships they build and the confidence they develop in shaping what comes next.
In FY26, WAM supported 117 women through our mentoring program. Through goal-setting and review meetings, 95 women identified 331 goals reflecting what mattered most to them.
For some women, that meant pursuing employment or education. For others, it involved improving their health and wellbeing, strengthening relationships, building financial stability, securing housing or feeling more confident about their future. Each goal was different because each woman’s circumstances, strengths and ambitions were different.
Progress took many forms throughout the year. 79% of women reported fully achieving at least one of their goals. 37 women graduated from the program after achieving or progressing 157 goals, and 92% reported some level of positive change at graduation.
These outcomes were supported by the relationships at the heart of WAM’s model. Our mentoring community grew to 122 volunteer mentors across Victoria, each providing consistent, participant-centred support while encouraging women to make their own choices and work towards goals defined on their own terms.
This consistency matters, particularly as demand grows and the circumstances women are navigating become increasingly complex. Meaningful change rarely happens through a single intervention. It develops through trust, time and having someone alongside you as you determine what progress looks like for yourself.
During the year, three women reported reoffending. While reducing reoffending remains an important outcome, it is only one part of the picture. Employment, education, stable housing, stronger relationships, improved wellbeing and renewed confidence can all contribute to lasting change.
Our FY26 results demonstrate what becomes possible when women receive support that recognises their circumstances, respects their choices and remains consistent over time.
Behind every number is a woman working towards something that matters to her. Every goal achieved, every step forward and every mentoring relationship reflects a future being shaped with greater confidence, connection and possibility.
